SYCA Youth Camping Program aims to give young Cambodians opportunity to have fun, going on a pleasure trip, making new friends, doing some enjoyable activities, and at the same time, getting their hands on working together for the society.
They will be set up to go right to slump areas in Sihanouk Ville and meet with the local children, who are mostly not very well-educated and live in a really bad, impoverished condition. Participants will get to do activities that are meant to encourage those children to consider and use education as an effective tool to lead themselves towards a healthier and more worthwhile life. Hopefully, presence of the camp participants is of some inspirations to those kids, building a more motivated spirit in them—the spirit that drives them to get more out of their lives.
Helping the others is not the only thing focused on in this camp, though. A variety of activities will be arranged simply for participants to enjoy themselves. Together young people will spend some time creating memorable moments out of various activities, from just chatting and sharing experience with each other to playing games on the beach and touring parts of Sihanouk Ville. Through this simple interaction, special bonds, which are believed to help generate and strengthen solidarity and cooperation, will be made among youth.
Venue: Sept 13-14th, 2008 (M'lop Tapang, Sihanouk Ville)
